This is now a very important song to me. Firstly it’s important because it’s beautiful. Secondly, it’s important because when Justin Vernon did this song alone on stage, Robin was holding my hand so hard that I literally didn’t think I was going to be able to keep the ends of my fingers because I was sure they were developing gangrene. I couldn’t let go and I didn’t want to. But my fingers are okay and this song will always bring me back to those minutes in Radio City Music Hall when I was listening to this song and thinking about what would happen if I didn’t have any fingertips on my left hand. I would have figured something out.
