"A million chicks, a hundred parties and several friends."

— Andrew Dost on fun.’s crazy (not real) lifestyle [x]

stopsmyb0nes:

Over the last few days I have noticed a couple of things within the fun. “fandom” that have really bothered me so I am going to moan about it/make some (hopefully valid) points/get things off my chest etc.

  • Spamming band member’s Instagram with comments asking/demanding that they tell you whether they are still dating their girlfriend/boyfriend whatever IS NOT COOL. AT ALL. BOUNDARIES. RESPECT THEM. IT’S NOBODY’S BUSINESS BUT THEIRS.
  • Similarly, spamming band member’s Instagram with consistent comments getting them to notice you isn’t great, either.

We are really, really fucking privileged to be able to speak to them via Twitter/Instagram etc & things like this are going to put them off using these means of networking.  It is obvious that, perhaps, this kind of thing has bothered them in the past (Emily deleted her Twitter/Nattie has deleted in the past etc) & if this sort of stuff continues, I can only imagine that their frequenting of these sites, or at least, interaction with the fanbase, will decrease, or (God forbid) even stop.  They don’t have to reply to tweets, or Instagram comments, but they do, because it is clear that they care about their fans & appreciate the love & support they get on a daily basis.  If you were to log in to your Twitter/Instrgram & see shit like this everytime, would  YOU want to interact with people asking personal/inappropriate questions/spamming you with the same stuff each day? Chances are, probably not.

So please, please think about what you are posting/commenting etc.  It’s great to love & show appreciation for a band, it’s great to want them to notice you (chances are, if you post a friendly/chatty comment, they are more likely to respond than if you post an essay on how much you adore them) but this probably isn’t the best way to go about it.

And finally

  • Remember that they are human beings just like the rest of us, who just happen to be extremely talented.

I certainly don’t want to cause any drama or give the impression that I think I am better than those that do the things listed above - believe me, I don’t (I was/still am a fangirl!!) but there are certain lines that are being crossed that may be unrewarding in the long run.

Have a great day! :-)
